President Darrel Luck

Darrel is currently in his seventh term as President of the NCCUA after taking over from John Sullivan in 2006.  He brings lots of experience to the role with his leadership skills.  Darrel holds the portfolios of Risk Assessment Officer, Website Editor (sportingpulse), & Liaison Office to the BDAFL.

Darrel was awarded NCCUA Life Membership in 2006 and was named as a Field Umpire in the NCCUA Black Diamond Cup Panel of the Decade.


Vice President Roger Crowhurst

Roger is in his first term of Vice President after being in a mixture of roles (BDAFL Umpires Coach & Committee Position) since 2007. He brings his experience in leadership management to the table and is able to look at the big picture.  Roger holds the portfolios of Record Article Editor and Child Protection Officer.

Secretary Richard Cornish

Richard has now been Secretary for seven terms after taking over the role in 2006.  He brings an ever changing view to the committee with his continual studies and experiences in the sports business field.  Richard holds the portfolios of Website Editor (nccua.com), Public Officer, Sponsorship, Social and Fundraising Coordinator.

Richard was awarded NCCUA Goal Umpire of the Year in 2003, 2008, 2009, 2010; NCCUA Club Person of the Year in 2008 & 2009 and was named as a Goal Umpire in the NCCUA Reserve Grade Umpiring Panel of the Decade.

Assistant Secretary Paul Best

Paul is in his second term as Assistant Secretary after coming into the role in 2011.  His experiences in the rural fire brigade with the media brings ideas to the table.  Paul holds the portfolio of Record Article Editor.

As a Goal Umpire, Paul was awarded the 2011 BDAFL Umpire of the year.

Treasurer Neville Turner

Neville is the stalwart in the committee being Treasurer since 2000.  His experience with umpiring in the area ensures the heritage of the area is not lost and the mistakes of the past aren't repeated along with his business experience to the treasurers role.

Neville was awarded Life Membership of the NCCUA in 2004 and of the BDAFL in 2007.  He also received the NCCUA Club Person of the Year award in 2007 and was named as a Field Umpire in the NCCUA Under 18’s Umpiring Panel of the Decade.

Committee Position Brendan Marriott

Brendan joins the committee for the first time.  He adds some more youth to the committee and will help provide a youthful view on retention and recruitment.  Brendan holds the portfolio of Sponsorship, Social & Fundraising coordinator.

Committee Position Roger Stokes

Roger returns to the committee after an absence of one year.  His previous position was the umpire’s coordinator for the AFLGSJ Central Coast.  He brings a parental view to the committee with his son also umpiring.  Roger holds the portfolios of Apparel Steward and Sponsorship, Social and Fundraising coordinator.

Committee Position Richard Brasier

Richard moved to Newcastle from Sydney in 2011 and joined the NCCUA. Previously he had been a club umpire and took the step of becoming a more formal umpire.

He joins the committee in 2012 and brings youth and energy to the group.

BDAFL Umpires Coach Peter Hampshire

Peter retains the role of BDAFL Umpires Coach after being in the role since 2010.  He brings the coaching view to the table along with his business experience.  Peter holds the portfolio of Record Article Editor.

Peter previously umpired in the Sydney AFL.  His experience that he carried into his appointment as BDAFL Umpires Coach comes from being part of the Coaching staff for the Sydney AFL Umpiring Panel.

Roy Reichert

Roy continues in his role as AFLGSJ Newcastle Umpires Coordinator having been in the role since 2009.  Roy has also been Vice President in 2007 and 2008.

He was awarded Life Membership of the NCCUA in 2009 and NCCUA Club Person of the Year in 2006.
